Garmin nüvi 1300LMT 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates Reviews
22 of 24 people found the following review helpful Good Unit but not as good as previous version, This review is from: Garmin nvi 1300LMT 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates (Electronics) It's really frustating when the new and improved version of a product is a less satisfying execution. I have a Garmin 255WT and saw the 1300LMT advertised as basically the replacement for it with free lifetime map upgrades (although I'll bet that in a couple of years, they'll find some excuse to not be able to upgrade the maps and we'll have to buy another unit). To be fair, this unit maintains the ease of use and efficiency of the older unit. It doesn't fail to efficiently get you where you need to be with intuitive and clean interface screens. It is much more intuitive and has clearer interfaces than its Magellan counterpart, which I also tried and ran next to this. The frustrating part is that Garmin has made a bunch of small trade-offs that are lesser examples of its predecessor. Examples are: the formerly all black case now has a bright aluminum bezel that reflects sunlight into your eyes; the human sounding female voice is replaced by a less human sounding, more... It took me by a route that I would not have otherwise taken, and it was about 15 minutes shorter than my usual Route 2 drive. Very impressive. I like the EcoRoute feature that lets you set it to take you a way that uses the least gasoline. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful Takes you on longer routes, By Priscilla Cheng (San Diego, CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Garmin nvi 1300LMT 4.3-Inch Portable GPS Navigator with Lifetime Map and Traffic Updates (Electronics) For some odd reason, my Garmin nuvi 1300LMT keeps taking me a longer routes.I have the navigation set on fastest time, avoiding unpaved roads, traffic, toll roads, and carpool lanes. However, for some reason this GPS insists on taking me on longer routes. Here are 3 instances that made me decide I will return this item: 1) My mother has a Garmin 1300, too (I don't know which model, though), and we were going to the exact same place. However, at one point her GPS told her to go left, and mine told me to right, so we went in opposite directions, and she got there first. 2) The GPS told me to drive 5 miles to the right to get to an entry of the freeway, when there is an entry 1 mile to the left. 3) I was going from San Diego to Costa Mesa, and the GPS directed me to drive on the 1 (a coastal, scenic road) for 20 miles. That's 20 miles of local roads!!!!! I was meeting people and I was at least 30 minutes late because the GPS' terrible navigation... Read more |
